Once again I packed a lot of my stuff (not quite the amount I did about 3 month ago but still) and moved in a new (new as in renovated, yes!!) dorm room. No furniture from the early seventies any more. (no matter what you say, retro is fine, but stuff that has been lived in for over 30 years? no thanks!) It is a bit weird now since when you first enter it does look a bit like a giant sauna but I am pretty sure I will get used to it (anyway, I hardly ever wear clothes in here, so wtf?) As far as I have noticed now there are only 2 drawbacks.
1) the bed. ok, it does not have the spring anymore that used to stab me in my back and believe it or not, I do miss it a bit, people can become friends with a lot of things. But the worst thing about it is that it makes terrible noice. And, sadly, I am not talking about rampant, sweaty sex-noises here. I am talking about sleeping. It squeaks so badly I actually woke up from it last night, and I can sleep during almost anything.
2) the bathroom looks like it comes from apollo nameanumber. The walls, the shower, EVERYTHING is made of plastic (ok, not the toilet or the sink, but everything else). The whole floor, including the shower tub is the same part as the walls up to knee-height. then another part starts, but it is still plastic. And yes, when you step on it it too squeaks. Ridiculous. You could slaughter animals in there and just wash it all away so well not even Gil Grissom would find a single drop of blood if he was after a mad i-killed-an-animal kind of guy.
Good things: a lot more outlets, no more extentions everywhere, the sauna-wood on the wall things prevent my neighbours from hearing every sound I make (which is a really good thing with those beds) better insolation cause of the new windows (makes it easier to be naked all the time when at home

) and a fridge in my room. ok, so far it does not work, but anyway, my things now can't be stolen from the "everyone on the floor puts his stuff in it" fridge in the kitchen any more. I am sure I will make it work and if not, winter should be just around the corner anyway and I know from experience that a bag clamped in the window with the contents on the outside works very well.
Two more days, then I drive home to my parents and get the rest of my stuff to really make myself at home (sometimes you really miss your tv,....) and then I think i can even cope with the bed, at least until rampant sweaty sex gets in my way (??? did i really say in my way?? something sure must be seriously wrong with me.
